The 2011 Programme Features
Sept
9 -Oct 31 ..Jean-Claude
» Jean-Claude Sauer
Sept
24-Oct 31 ..Vivian Van
Blerk, « URBI ET ORBI »

Dans les séries « Into the World » et
moderne.

..Vee Speers, « BORDELLO
»

Galerie Huit is proud to present 'Bordello', an exhibition of photography by Australian artist Vee Speers.
"The twilight of Vee Speers' great photos of beautiful women causes the viewer to merge with the surroundings of the image and enter a kind of dream-like vision of an often sordid reality. She shows beauty where beauty can be terribly absent" Karl Lagerfeld.

The book: Bordello With a Foreword by Karl Lagerfeld
In Bordello, Vee Speers succeeds in creating an authentic and poetic evocation that captures the perfume of a vanished world; the Paris nightlife in the 1920s and 30s. Most famously eternalized perhaps by the photographs of Brassaï, the romantic decadence of early 20th century Paris comes to life afresh in this series of sensuous and nostalgic photographs, shot on location in former bordellos where the lavish and opulent decors have survived intact.
The exhibition is accompanied by a book with a foreword by Karl Lagerfeld, which also includes four exclusive CDs of specially selected music by early 20th century French performers.

Mar-Apr 2011 Roger de Montebello, 'Megachromia'
'Megachromia'
refers to a large and unique-edition or limited-edition
photo of a small painting capturing some action
or movement. This photo is not digitally modified except
for what is necessary to achieve absolute fidelity
to the painting which served as its model. The word 'Megachromia'
alludes to both large size and the subsequent explosion
of colour. Montebello's Megachromia are neither 'simply'paintings
nor 'simply' photos, but an interaction of the two,
and the result of a specific process.
