Information Galerie Huit
Galerie Huit Arles is situated in a late 17th century mansion, in the historical town centre of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Arles, France. Founded in 2007 by author, curator and heritage conservationist, Julia de Bierre, the gallery hosts exhibitions, artists, and guests from around the world.
Photographs, paintings, sculptures and "objets de désir" are displayed in the unusual salon settings of this atmospheric exhibition and residential space. As well as a regular exhibition programme, and distinguished private views, the gallery hosts residencies and workshops for artists and writers. Guest rooms or self-contained apartments are also available for rental in the mansion.
Since 2007 the gallery has built a solid reputation for its careful selection of artists – both established and emerging – and the quality and originality of its hangings or installations. Exhibitions are mounted either independently or in collaboration. Partners have included: The Victoria & Albert Museum, London, Taschen Books, Editions Gallimard, City Hall Kuala Lumpur , Alliance Française and Galerie SIT DOWN, Paris.
Much more than just an art space, Galerie Huit Arles is a creative, inspirational and convivial venue in a magnificent setting.
